Amy and Sarah recently went with Hilary (just arrived from Dorset) to Livingstone - by bus!
"We spent nearly 10 hours on a bus and Zambian buses are a little different from English ones. They cram as many people in as possible and have no aisle, the buses are usually falling apart, so far I have experienced one with a smashed windscreen (mended with brown selotape) and one with no handbrake so when it stopped the driver jumped out and quickly put a stone behind the wheel! The drivers are usually drunk or they don’t have a license. One of our drivers has jumped out of our bus and had a fight with a nearby taxi driver then jumped back in muttering 'taxi drivers' crossly and then drove off, another one has got out of the bus and left us all for some time while he went to watch the wrestling in a roadside bar! everyone got really cross and were hanging out of the windows shouting at him to come back!
